Mew Break Up | Pitchfork
Mew are breaking up. The Danish band will say farewell, and celebrate its 30th anniversary, with a pair of shows next year. See those tour dates, and statements from the band and frontman Jonas Bjerre, below.
Singer Jonas Bjerre, drummer Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen, bassist Johan Wohlert, and guitarist Bo Madsen formed Mew in 1995. They released their first studio album, A Triumph for Man, in 1997, and, eventually, were under the Sony Music umbrella for albums including Frengers and the standout And the Glass Handed Kites. Madsen left Mew after 2015’s + –, and Mew went on to release just one more studio album, 2017’s Visuals.
