‘2 Close Back Up’ Says JReal Da Realest

Emerging from Los Angeles’ vibrant music scene is rapper and author JReal Da Realest, who has dropped his latest single, “2 Close Back Up,” featuring Traffic and T.F.—two artists recognized for their memorable performance on multi-GRAMMY-nominated ScHoolboy Q’s track, “TOOKIE KNOWS II.” With a catchy, straightforward vibe and an impressive beat crafted by L-Finguz, the track’s braggadocious energy is hard to resist. After a few listens, I caught myself doing something I probably shouldn’t…safe to say my days of rapping or singing out loud, even in private, are over—but it’s a seriously fun track!

“2 Close Back Up” is available on all DSPs and mobile streaming services as well!

As mentioned, JReal is also an author who publishes under his gov, and his tome Land Of No Pity: A South Central Story (July 3, 2020), is available on Amazon. Following his increased popularity earned by his music, the book has found increased demand and he’s just celebrated a new pressing of the poignant story of how his life dramatically changed after the sudden death of his care provider Grandmother. Jerell struggled with the process of grief while dealing with the upheaval of being placed in foster care. With a lack of guidance, he started associating with the 52nd Hoover Street Gang. With years of unresolved pain and misplaced aggression, this harsh environment and a series of unwise decisions left him shot 5 times, homeless and alone.

This is the hypnotic story of a man navigating the maze of life who is emerging triumphant and is perhaps something we can all celebrate. This is a coffee table-worthy offering that captivates while taking you on a vivid journey of life in the foster care system, some results of street life in LA and yes, surviving mental health struggles as a result of early tragedies that left a child struggling to find a way just to keep it together day by day. Now a father raising three sons himself, Jerell is a strong picture of hanging in there, and accepting responsibility for his present and future…he put work clothes on his dreams to get here…this is his story.
