Three Women ended tonight, and Gia, Lina, Maggie, and Sloane have grown dramatically since Three Women Season 1 Episode 1.

They’ve survived their demons, chased their dreams, and emerged stronger. But did any of them get a happy ending?

Some of them did, and they could be proud of their decisions, while the series still left several loose ends in other story arcs.

Everyone Knows Maggie’s Name Now

Maggie has experienced too much loss in her young life. Without her dad, her biggest champion, she felt lost and lonely.

Everyone, even her brother David, seemed to want her to sweep everything under the rug and move on.

Maggie could not do that since she kept envisioning celebrations for Mr. Knodel, commemorating his return. She looked like the bad guy for wrecking a wonderful teacher’s reputation.

That feeling intensified as she and David protested against Mr. Knodel. The problem was Maggie felt that her brother felt, like many others, that she wasn’t a victim since she consented to sex.

That’s why sexual grooming is so important to discuss. Teachers are supposed to protect students, not cause them harm.

That’s why Maggie chose to sell her story to Gia. It meant so much to her that Gia believed her. Everyone knew her name and her side of the story now.

Sloane Stood Up For Who She Was

DeWanda Wise excelled at portraying a complex character that makes the audience question who Sloane is.

Sloane messed up when she cheated on Richard with Will. She was a grown-up and shouldn’t blame everything on her mother. Sophie also shouldn’t pay for Sloane’s mistakes.

However, Diane pressured Sloane to conform a certain way, so Sloane did lack affection. Will probably appealed to her, too, being too reckless and free.

There was a certain satisfaction in seeing Diane’s horror as Sloane described the foursome to her mom since Diane was so proper.

However, Lily and Richard went way too far, calling Sloane a slut. Lily was a willing participant and a hypocrite, so she needed to stop the blame game.

As for Richard, he knew Sloane had a healthy sexual appetite. It was degrading watching her kneel and beg him to take her back. No woman should have to get on her knees and beg.

Thankfully, Sloane switched gears and remembered the sexual goddess she was and propositioned Richard in bed with the wrecked cake.

That whipped cream scene was sexy, fun, and ideal for them to reconcile and remember why they fell in love initially.

Lina Decided She Deserved Better

Lina prided herself on being different than her family, so she tried to give her son what he asked for — a day in the park with her undivided attention without her phone.

When she briefly returned to the car and almost lost Ryan, she realized how obsessed she had become with Aidan.

I’m relieved she stopped making excuses for Aiden since it was obvious he wouldn’t change.

Since things were familiar, he enjoyed having a casual fling with his old high school girlfriend. But I couldn’t believe he threw money at her as she left.

They had a relationship. She wasn’t his whore. My respect for him dropped.

Gia Decided Her Best Was Enough

Shailene Woodley again delivered by portraying a flawed character with insecurity. We’ve all regretted things after our parents died or heard their voices buzzing in our ears with our negative traits.

That’s how Gia felt. She felt she was doomed to be a terrible mother and was afraid to get close to her daughter or Jack since she would likely die of the same lung cancer that killed her mother.

Gia’s doctor and Sloane were sympathetic but urged her to get tested so she could get tested. While Lina was a nurturer, Sloane seemed like a bossy older sister who spoke the truth.

She was the one who put Jack in his place when he exploded at Gia for not calling when she went into labor.

Sloane: Do you want to have a conversation, or do you want to scare the shit out of your daughter?

It’s difficult to take sides in Gia and Jack’s fight. He needed to listen to her, but he had rights regarding their daughter. He wanted to protect them, but promising that Gia would be all right only scared her away.

That made Gia run again, and every time ran away, she lost more friends because they thought she had a loving relationship with Jack.

Gia only wanted to hear one version and admitted it hurt worse when women thought the worst of you. Even so, Jack had no right to imply she was crazy for needing time to process her diagnosis or that she was a terrible mom.

Lots of Loose Ends Needed to be Tied Up

There were many loose ends for a limited series finale. Only Maggie’s arc seemed complete when she told her story and met a new guy on the plane to promote the book on the Today Show.

While many fans would love to see more of Maggie’s journey, she fought for her rights and showed her bravery, and others respected that. She won in that regard.

Sloane’s arc also seemed mainly finished. She finally was content with Richard and Sophie and living in a traditional marriage.

But what happened to Lily and Will? Did Lily have Richard’s baby and pretend it was Will’s? Were they totally out of one another’s lives? That mushroom-tripping night opened up Pandora’s box.

While Lina ended it with Aidan, it never showed her ending beyond being with her sons. Was that enough for her? Did she find someone that put her needs first?

Gia’s storyline ending had the most gaps. Did Jack substantiate enough information to charge her with kidnapping Fox? She dealt with many issues and tried her best, but that was a gaping hole.

After she dealt with motherhood and lingering cancer issues, we also deserved to know if she’d survive to watch her daughter grow up.

These women’s stories shaped who Gia became; hopefully, she did and shared those stories with her.

Now that Three Women has ended, it’s your turn. Which women’s storyline was your favorite? Were you satisfied with any of the endings?
