5 Elegant Fall Trends That Will Elevate a Wardrobe

I chat about fashion with my mom regularly. One of our favorite pastimes is shopping together in-store and sending items and trends back and forth over text. While we have our own styles, we often gravitate toward similar looks because we love the classic and elevated aesthetic.

On that note, we recently went through all of the key fall 2024 trends, and there were four, in particular, that we agreed on. Yes, you could describe all of the trends as elegant. They fit within that modern-classic realm and have a refined element to them with sophisticated design elements. Keep scrolling to check out the best elegant fall trends that both my mom and I like, complete with visual and shopping inspiration.

Tailored Blazers

Silhouettes continue to shift as we approach fall. While oversize blazers will certainly still be around, both my mom and I are into the nipped-in and belted blazers with hourglass shapes to instantly give off an elegant look. My mom said she’d try one of these styles with a white shirt and jeans for an easy yet classy look.

Burgundy Items

We can’t get enough of this color. We were actually shopping IRL recently, and my mom fell in love with a burgundy Loewe bag and hasn’t stopped talking about it since. It is the prettiest, most luxurious color right now. While accessories shine, burgundy ready-to-wear also stands out.

Tissue-Thin Turtlenecks

Elevated basics will always reign supreme, and that’s no different for fall 2024. Tissue-thin turtlenecks were styled all over the runways with labels from Jil Sander to Khaite showcasing them under shirts, sweaters, and blazers to create elevated layered looks.

A-Line/Full Skirts

An A-line skirt was the first item that came to my mom’s mind when thinking about elegant items, and yes, these silhouettes dominated the fall runways with a new sense of refined glamour—as we discussed in our fall trend guide.

Scarf-Coats

Yes, scarf-coats are back for fall/winter 2024, and brands such as Chloé and Ferragamo showcased updated takes on this elegant silhouette on the runways.
