Bill Maher made a bold declaration about President Donald Trump‘s $5,000 promise, as well as the Republicans who support it.
In the Friday, September 11 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the late-night host, 70, called out the POTUS, 80, and conservatives over Trump’s promise of $5,000 checks to every American if Republicans win the midterms.
While speaking with panelists Max Brooks and Sarah Longwell, Maher called out the right after predicting that “Democrats have this one in the bag,” ahead of midterm elections.
“When it comes to Trump, you’re not that bright. You’re just not that bright,” Maher declared. “It is a cult, and you’ve got to get a little smarter. I mean, how many times can the con man run the same con? And you still applaud for it? I don’t get it.”

Earlier, during the opening monologue, Maher also pointed out that Trump “has a solution to the affordability crisis.”
The stand-up comedian explained, “He listed a lot of new proposals, and then just went, ‘You know what, f*** it, I’ll give you five grand. That’s it, really. That was the big take from the convention, the midterm convention. That’s really the solution we have. If you vote Republicans in, the government will hand out to everyone, $5,000.”
Maher then quipped, “You know, to fight socialism.”
Additionally, Maher took a jab at Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) amid his continued absence from the U.S. Senate.
“In a country that is already haves and have-nots, this is a little bit of a scattershot approach,” he added. “To get the money, all you have to do is just be an American adult and be alive. So, Mitch McConnell, your move,” Maher said.
