BLACKPINK’s Lisa “cried” when she was cast in ‘The White Lotus’ season three
BLACKPINK member Lisa has opened up about the moment she learned she would be starring in the upcoming season third of The White Lotus.
In her interview for Elle Magazine’s September cover, BLACKPINK’s Lisa singer touched on her upcoming role in season three of HBO’s black comedy series The White Lotus, which will mark her acting debut. Lisa also spoke about what viewers can look forward to in the new season, which will be based in her home country of Thailand.
“I think I cried,” Lisa said of the moment she got the news that she had landed the role, adding that she did not tell family and friends that she auditioned for it. “I was with my friends, my mom’s friends, and my mom as well, but I didn’t tell them that I auditioned for it,” she added.
The singer shared that while she was thrilled by the news, she quickly began to worry about whether she could pull off her first acting role. “I’m super excited and nervous, because it’s my first acting project,” she said. “I was happy for a second, and then I was like, ‘Oh, wait, wait, how am I going to deliver this?’”
“It’s pretty new to me, but I think it’s similar to shooting music videos. I’m excited for my fans to see it,” she added. Elsewhere during the interview, ‘Rockstar’ singer added that filming the series in various locations in Thailand was a great opportunity “to be back home, to have Thai food every day”.
While Lisa remained tight-lipped on the details of the upcoming season, the singer said: “I feel like people are going to fall in love with Thailand even more.”
BLACKPINK’s Lisa will also be releasing a new single later this week titled ‘New Woman’ featuring Rosalía. It comes just over a month after the singer dropped ‘Rockstar’, her first solo release under her new self-established label LLOUD.
Elsewhere, K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM have become the latest act to appear on NME’s The Cover. “Idols are expected to present ourselves as perfect, but, at the same time, nobody’s perfect,” member Sakura said of life as a K-pop idol.
“We have our shortcomings. It takes courage to express those and show that weakness, but we try to embrace it and move forward. If we show that side of us, I think a lot of people will resonate with that.”
