The biggest rock tour of all time will continue its reign in 2025, where it’s set to visit Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Seoul.
It will be Coldplay’s first full-length headline touring performance in India after their 2016 appearance at Global Citizen Festival. The new dates will also see the band return to Hong Kong for the first time since 2009. Coldplay’s Abu Dhabi dates are also the first since 2016, and Seoul since 2017.
Kicking off in January, Coldplay has also announced Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna as a support act in Abu Dhabi. She has previously appeared on the track ‘We Pray’ alongside Burna Boy, Little Simz, and Tini, where the song will feature on the band’s upcoming 10th album ‘Moon Music‘. Mystery guests are soon to be announced for other dates.
All presale tickets can be accessed at the band’s website here. Abu Dhabi presale tickets will commence on September 25, 12pm local time, with general tickets following on September 27, 12pm local time. Meanwhile, Mumbai will offer general sale tickets at September 22, 12pm local time.
Hong Kong will have their presale tickets on October 7, 10am local time (Klook presale tickets will start on October 8, 10am) and their general tickets on October 10, 10am. The tour expansion follows the news of Coldplay’s UK stadium leg, which will see 10 per cent of proceeds donated to the Music Venue Trust. Tickets to the UK shows will go on sale at 9am on Friday September 27, with tickets available here.
“Coldplay are the perfect example of a UK band who came through the grassroots circuit on their way to worldwide stadium-filling success,” said MVT CEO Mark Davyd of the decision. “It’s fantastic to see them celebrating their own pathway to Wembley by giving back to the grassroots music venues that supported them and recognising the artists and promoters that are struggling more than ever to build their own careers.”
Davyd added that the money will “go directly into work that ensures communities right across the country will continue to have access to great live music on their doorstep”.
“The band’s support really will stop venues closing, make tours happen and bring the joy of live music to thousands of people,” he continued. “After months of discussing Coldplay’s potential support around these UK shows with them, we’re so happy and grateful that the news is finally out there!”
The band also made headlines for their eco-conscious approach to live music, which has seen them produce 59 per cent less CO2 emissions than previous tours in 2016 and 2017.
Additionally, 7million trees have been planted globally due to the success of the tour, with the band having previously pledged to plant one tree for every person who attends a show.
In other news, Coldplay have just been announced to appear as a musical guest on SNL for their 50th season.
