Ella Bleu Travolta Honors Late Mom Kelly Preston With Little Bird Song
John Travolta‘s daughter Ella Bleu Travolta paid tribute to her late mother Kelly Preston with a touching new song, “Little Bird.”
In the ballad, Ella sings about the weight of grief, wishing she could hear mom say, “My little bird, don’t you cry, hear my lullaby it’ll be alright.” The visuals accompanying the song feature a compilation of home videos giving a glimpse at the Travolta family’s joyful moments, including birthdays, plane rides, trips to Times Square’s since-shuttered Toys R Us and swims in their pool.
A day before releasing the track, Ella wrote on Instagram, “‘Little Bird’ is about a beautiful time in my life. I spent the last two years thinking about what I wanted this song to be, only for it to be written over night. This song is about the celebration of life.”
Her dad commemorated the song’s release on social media, writing on his Instagram Story, “This is a very special day. Ella is releasing her new single ‘Little Bird.’ This song and video is an homage to her mother, and it also happens to be my wedding anniversary with Kelly.”
The Grease star added that the single “is one of the songs on her upcoming album that [he] helped produce.”
The 24-year-old launched her music career in 2021 with her first single, “Dizzy.” She commemorated the release with a video on Instagram featuring the behind-the-scenes of recording the song, including a snippet of her dad singing along. The singer captioned the clip, “It’s been a long time coming but I’m still that 14 year old weird girl at heart and I love it.”
Besides being a singer, Ella has ventured into modeling and acting. She appeared alongside her parents in Gotti and shared screentime with her dad in The Poison Rose. She received her first starring role in the 2021 indie flick Get Lost, a modernized spin on Alice in Wonderland. In 2022, she made her New York Fashion Week debut, strutting the runway for the Karl Lagerfeld show featuring the Cara Loves Karl capsule collection. John made sure to celebrate his daughter’s milestone at the time with a social media post that read, “So proud of Ella’s debut at fashion week in New York City!”
