You might recall the news back in August that Nathan Fillion will be bringing his portrayal of smug Green Lantern Corps member Guy Gardiner to animated form for the ‘Mister Miracle’ animated series that DC Studios has been developing.

Now comes an update via an interview by IGN with DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran that Josh Hutcherson (‘The Hunger Games’) and Mackenzie Davis (‘The Martian’) are voicing the lead characters.

Tom King, who co-created HBO’s recent DC success ‘Lanterns,’ is overseeing the new series.

What’s the story of the ‘Mister Miracle’ series?

Scott Free (Hutcherson) is the world’s greatest escape artist, known to the world as Mister Miracle, whose perfect life with his warrior wife Big Barda (Davis) falls apart when their two home worlds — Apocalypse and New Genesis — go to war, and Scott’s cruel adoptive father Darkseid appears to have captured the ultimate weapon, the Anti-Life Equation, that will give him total dominance over the universe.

Safran was enthusiastic about Tom King’s take on the story:

“It’s just a beautiful story about, ‘How do we survive in today’s world knowing that we’re never going to truly know the answers to the big questions in life? It’s a beautiful book and the adaptation is fantastic.”
