Master P wants Lil Wayne to play the Super Bowl Halftime show
Master P has publicly called for the NFL to include Lil Wayne in the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show – see what he had to say below.
Yesterday (September 8), the NFL confirmed Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for next year’s Super Bowl Halftime show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. While the announcement was celebrated by most, some people were baffled that Kendrick Lamar was booked instead of hometown hero Lil Wayne.
One such person calling for Lil Wayne to be involved in the Super Bowl Halftime show is rap veteran Master P, who shared a post on Instagram congratulating Kendrick Lamar. He wrote: “Well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now.”
Later in the post, Master P – who serves as Ambassador of Entertainment for New Orleans – tagged NFL’s music strategist Jay-Z: “I have to agree with the fans that [Lil Wayne] should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here.”

Following the news of Kendrick Lamar’s booking for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show, Jay-Z said in a statement, throwing his support behind the ‘Not Like Us’ rapper: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
It has already been quite a year for Kendrick, with his beef with Drake dominating headlines for months on end earlier this year. Lamar dropped ‘Not Like Us’ – his fourth Drake diss track – in May, addressing the Canadian rapper: “Say Drake, I hear you like ’em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one/ To any bitch that talk to him and layin’ love/ Just make sure you hide your little sister from ’em,.”
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the Spotify record for the most streamed rap song in one day, while also being named one of TikTok’s Songs of the Summer.
