Premiere Date, Cast, Filming Schedule, More

Landman‘s second season was emotional and dramatic and left fans hungry for more. Luckily, Season 3 is now coming into view as the series officially returns to production.

Paramount+ has now confirmed the start of production on Season 3, just after several cast members showed photos of themselves returning to their trailers for the new season to start.

The streamer has also confirmed a few key cast changes. So as the new season gets underway, here’s a look at everything to know about Landman Season 3.

Is Landman renewed for Season 3?

Yes. Paramount+ announced on December 5 that the show has been greenlit for a third season after a major viewership tally for Season 2. Per the streamer, the premiere notched a whopping 9.2 million streams on its first two days, which was a 262% increase over Season 1’s debut and marked the biggest premiere for any Paramount+ original so far.

Meanwhile, Billy Bob Thornton recently told USA Today that he is signed on to his contract for the show for “four or five years.” Paramount+ confirmed the start of production on October 1.

Who will star in Landman Season 3?

Billy Bob Thornton will continue to lead the cast as the rough-and-tumble oil man Tommy Norris. Also returning to their roles are Demi Moore as Cami Miller, Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Sam Elliott as T.L., Andy Garcia as Gallino, Jacob Lofland as Cooper, Michelle Randolph as Ainsley, Paulina Chávez as Ariana, Kayla Wallace as Rebecca, Mark Collie as Sheriff Joeberg, and James Jordan as Dale.

Promoted to series regulars for Season 3 are returning stars Colm Feore as Nathan, Mustafa Speaks as Boss, Bobbi Salvor Menuez as Paigyn, and Francesca Xuereb as Cheyenne.

Lioness star Michael Kelly has also joined the cast of Landman Season 3 as William Crockett, a character described as “the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world.” Crockett, per the description, “is a titan of industry and everything about him exudes efficiency and money.”

While speaking to TV Insider about Lioness‘ ongoing third season, the actor admitted he was interested in joining the series, saying, “If there’s anything I could do in that world, I would lose my mind. I just love that show so much. I love Billy Bob [Thornton] and Sam [Elliott] and Andy Garcia. Are you sh***ing me? That show is, my wife and I eat it up. I love it so much.” Looks like his wish has come true!

What will Landman Season 3 be about?

Series cocreator Christian Wallace, who developed the show with Taylor Sheridan, talked to The Hollywood Reporter about the potential future of the series and said that Season 2 is “still just skimming the surface.”

“Our cast has added so much depth to the characters. They know them so well now that they make it easy to tell an entertaining story,” the Boomtown podcast host said. “As long as everyone’s still having fun and the story is continuing in a worthwhile way, then, sure, I’d love for it to go as long as the story permits. There’s a lot of runway left.”

Indeed, the Season 2 finale did leave fans with a ton of burning questions for the next bow to answer.

When will Landman Season 3 premiere?

Wallace indicated that it could return at the same pace that Season 2 did, a year after the first season’s debut. “I think it’s the plan. We hate to make people wait too long, and we’re all excited to get back and do it again. After we wrap, a couple weeks later, we’re like, ‘Dang, I miss everybody’ — cast and crew. We have such a great crew. I think we’re ready to get back to it as soon as we can.” However, a more recent update indicates the new season might come even sooner than that; executive producer Stephen Kay said, during The Hollywood Reporter’s Directors in Focus event, “We’re cutting while we’re shooting, so it’ll, hopefully, be out soon.”

What happened in Landman Season 2?

Season 2 saw Cami take over M-Tex after the death of her husband, only to find out about the company’s hidden financial woes and, eventually, fire Tommy Norris for doubting her decisions about how to deal with them.

The season also saw Angela grappling with the fact that her daughter, Ainsley, is entering a new phase in her life with college, while Cooper experienced several highs and lows, including striking liquid gold on his new oil leases, finding out his financier was drug kingpin Gallino, and experiencing a breakup and eventual engagement with Ariana before she went through a major trauma.

Elsewhere, we also met T.L., Tommy’s father, and the finale concluded with Tommy hanging a shingle for a new Norris family-owned and operated company… with the dangerous Gallino as partner.
