Ted Nugent and son Rocco share ‘Who Shot Trump’ – a song about attempted Donald Trump assassination
Ted Nugent and his son Rocco have released a song about the attempted Donald Trump assassination, ‘Who Shot Trump’.
The American musician – who is a high profile supporter of Donald Trump – has now dropped a song with his son, with its chorus warning that whoever shot the former US President “fucked up / When they shot Trump / They fucked up”
Rocco continues to sing: “But now you got problems when you fuck with us / He’s our guy / Here’s the reason why / You had your shot but he ain’t die / Inside job / I don’t care / Y’all just protect that man right there / It’s time to fight / Stand your ground / Let them know how freedom sounds.”
Nugent has previously attracted criticism for his far-right political views, including repeating baseless claims that Antifa and BLM activists were behind the Capitol riot, claiming systemic racism has been “fixed” in the US, and that America doesn’t have a gun problem.
A Nugent Alabama show was cancelled over his politics last year, with one commenter reacting to the news of his proposed show at the Avondale Brewing Co. venue in Birmingham, Alabama: “I will never spend another dollar in your establishment.”
“Grotesque that you would book such trash. Do better.”
In response to the reception, the venue cancelled the show and wrote: “We have heard the concerns of the Avondale community, which is so important to us, and in conjunction with our partners, have taken the necessary steps to to cancel the Ted Nugent concert scheduled for July 18.”
Meanwhile, outspoken socialist Tom Morello has defended his friendship with Nugent. In an interview with NME, Morello said of the unlikely friendship: “I reserve the right to confront opinions I disagree with, with open heartedness and love, or by throwing a brick,” he continued. “That’s up to me.
“In the case of Ted, I know he’s become this right-wing caricature but there have been several times where I have reached him on issues that you might be surprised about. But he is still crazy uncle Ted who says all sorts of shit.”
Morello added: “It can be important to keep an open dialogue with people you disagree with, especially in this global community of disagreements. Sometimes it’s just as important to block them, though.”
