Van Morrison announces new album âNew Arrangements And Duetsâ
Van Morrison has announced a brand new album titled âNew Arrangements And Duetsâ.
The album is set for release on September 27 and will be comprised of unreleased material the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer has had in his catalogue. According to Xsnoise, the big band tracks were recorded in 2014 with Paul Moran and Chris White individually choosing the tracks they wanted to create big band arrangements for.
Announcing the album in an Instagram post, Morrison wrote: “This album represents a small percentage of the huge amount of unreleased material we are hoping to roll out in the near future, rather than letting it gather dust in some archive.”
âNew Arrangements And Duetsâ tracklist is :
âAinât Gonna Moan No Moreâ â with Kurt Elling
âBroken Recordâ â with Kurt Elling
âAvalon of the Heartâ
âClose Enough for Jazzâ â with Curtis Stigers
âIâll Be Your Lover Tooâ
âOnly a Dreamâ
âSo Quiet in Hereâ
âSomeone Like Youâ â with Joss Stone
âThe Beauty of the Days Gone Byâ
âThe Masterâs Eyesâ
âSo Complicatedâ
âChoppinâ Woodâ
âYou Gotta Make It Through the Worldâ
âWhatâs Wrong With This Pictureâ â with Willie Nelson
âSteal My Heart Awayâ â with Willie Nelson
âNew Arrangements And Duetsâ will feature songs with the likes of Willie Nelson, Joss Stone, Curtis Stigers and Kurt Elling which were all recorded between 2018 and 2019.
‘Choppin Wood’ was released as the album’s lead single. The track features a big band performance and serves as a tribute to the singer’s late father.  The original version of the song was part of Morrisonâs 2002 LP âDown The Roadâ.
You can pre-order/pre-save the album here. It will be available in various formats including CD, standard black vinyl and limited-edition orange vinyl pressing.
