  • A ‘Poison Ivy’ TV series is in the works.
  • ‘The Penguin’s Lauren LeFranc is in talks to produce the show.
  • If it works out, it’ll screen on HBO.

It seems to be taking Batman –– in live action form, at least –– a long time to return to screens (yes, ‘The Batman: Part II’ is in production, we’re more referring to the casting of a main DC Studios universe version). But his rogue’s gallery is thriving, particularly on small screens.

Following the success of ‘The Penguin,’ Warner Bros. and DC have a series in development about fellow villain Poison Ivy, probably most memorably brought to life by Uma Thurman in ‘Batman & Robin,’ though we’re far more partial to the take on the character in the ‘Harley Quinn’ animated series as voiced by Lake Bell.

And Lauren LeFranc, who ran the Penguin series, is in talks to produce the new show, but will let someone else actually oversee it.

What’s the story of Poison Ivy?

Poison Ivy, created by Carmine Infantino and Robert Kanigher, was dubbed by DC Comics as “Batman’s Floral Femme Fatale.” Poison Ivy is the alias used by Dr. Pamela Isley and as her alter ego, Isley controls anyone she wants by using her pheromones. She also has an army at her disposal, as she is able to control the flora around her. In more recent incarnations, she’s leaned towards antihero rather than full villain.

What else is happening in the Batman villain world?

‘Clayface’ recently launched in cinemas, and there still remains chatter about a Deathstroke and Bane movie.
