Yung Gravy shares screenshots denying he asked “Hawk Tuah” girl on a date
Yung Gravy has shared screenshots on his social media pages, denying that he asked the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl on a date.
The ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl became a viral sensation on social media earlier this summer, after a street-interview video made way for multiple memes, edits and a desperate search to try and identify the girl in the clip.
Now revealed to be Hailey Welch, the spotlight on the Tennessee resident doesn’t seem to be coming to an end, with her going on to file several trademarks to launch various “Hawk Tuah” businesses – including mouthwash, sunflower seeds, BBQ sauce and more (via TMZ).
What’s more, she has also been open about the number of famous faces that have reached out to her since the clip went viral, with the most recent being Yung Gravy.
Talking to TMZ outside a hotel in New York City recently, Welch told the reporter that the artist reached out to her and asked her on a date. She also said that she turned him down, telling the outlet: “I was like ‘Nah, I don’t know about that’.”

However, Yung Gravy has since taken to social media to clarify the claims and deny that he ever asked her on a date.
Posted to X/Twitter this morning (August 20), the rapper shared a screenshot from their Instagram direct messages, which showed Welch messaging him saying “Hello Sir”, to which he congratulated her on her success and invited her to one of his shows.
“Damn I just looked at ur page u really out here doing this shit lol congrats b,” the messages read. “When I went to find ur page I was fr just trine salute u for being a certified top champ.
“Oh and this ain’t me trying to finesse cause idk ur mans situation but I wanted to have you at my show next month to hear my country shit.”
He shared the screenshot alongside a caption reading: “Can’t be nice anymore lol”.

Welch has yet to respond following Yung Gravy sharing the update.
Elsewhere in the interview with TMZ, Welch said that she had more business plans on the way for her ‘Hawk Tuah’ brand, and her attorney told the publication: “First off, we’re going to protect her likeness at all costs and that’s a full-time job in itself. We’ve got a lot of plans for a lot of different items.”
Shortly after the original video went viral, Welch appeared to be involved in the official merch line made as a result of the meme. At the start of last month, the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl had reportedly sold at least $65,000 (£51,432) worth of merchandise.
